Thomas Tuchel has added Morgan Gibbs white to his team in England, as exclusively revealed by Sky Sports News.
The Nottingham Forest -star was omitted from the first team of Tuchel for the qualifications of the World Cup 2026 with Albania and Latvia, but was drawn up in following the news that Chelsea's Cole Palmer was injured in club training on Friday.
Palmer missed the loss of Chelsea in Arsenal on Sunday, where the boss Enzo Maresca said that the player will miss both England matches and undergo a scan for a muscle injury.
Gibbs-White had five Premier League goals and seven assists for high-flying forest this season and received his senior debut in England in September by Lee Carsley, after he won the U17 World Cup in 2017 and U21 euros in 2023 as a junior.
The midfielder won praise for his performance in Forest's victory on Ipswich on Saturday in which he registered an assist. “That's why he should be in the English team,” said Soccer Saturdy Saturday Pundit Michael Dawson, while his head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said he was convinced that his player would soon be back in the fold. He didn't have to wait long.
Rashford, Henderson under Headline names in Tuchel's first team
On Friday, Tuchel had called his first English team, including Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson.
Rashford was frozen in December by the new head coach of the New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, but his shape has been impressive since he got on loan at Aston Villa in January.
He was rewarded with a return to the design of England, after he was last seen last year for the Three Lions as a replacement against Brazil in Wembley.
Henderson's return is a surprise. The last performance of the Ajax midfielder was against Malta in November 2023.
Conor Gallagher, a midweek scorer against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and Adam Wharton have been overlooked.
Kyle Walker is also named. The full-back left the Premier League and Manchester City for AC Milan in January.
Elsewhere Myles Lewis-Skelly earns his first senior call-up. The Arsenal midfielder, who can also play at left back, has never earned a U21-PET, but he did play for England at lower youth levels.
Newcastle -defender than Burn is also recorded, never seen at any level for England, while Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa are re -selected after making his senior debut in November.
Tuchel has only included two recognized strikers in his team of 26 players – Harry Kane and Dominic Solanke.
There is no room for Aston Villa Vooruit Ollie Watkins, and Sky Sports News understands that the Aston Villa Forward is missing because of a small knee issue that Tuchel and the player agreed to rest during the international break.
A number of players are also missing due to injury, including Harry Maguire, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lewis Hall and Bukayo Saka.
Tuchel: Choosing Henderson was an easy decision
Henderson's selection has taken the headlines and despite the fact that the midfielder has not been playing against Malta since 2023, Tuchel has claimed that it was an “easy” decision based on the leadership and qualities that a “serial winner” brings to the team.
“With Jordan it's pretty simple,” Tuchel said in his press conference. “He is a serial winner, he is currently a captain of Ajax and he has played many matches.
“What he brings to each team is leadership, character, personality, energy. He ensures that everyone lives according to the standards.
“With this characteristic he embodies everything we are trying to build.
“We try to build a team that our fans are proud of and can identify and hopefully an exciting watch.
“Jordan embodies everything we want from this team.”
Tuchel in the hope that Rashford can build on Villa Momentum
The recording of Rashford for the first time in 12 months was another to make a stir.
The attacker has yet to score since he came to Villa from Man Utd in January, but has registered four assists in his first nine performances for the club, and Tuchel would like to build Rashford on this new momentum with England.
He continued: “With Marcus it is a familiar face back in the team, but it is a different situation [to Henderson].
“I felt that Marcus had a huge impact at Aston Villa. He made a huge impact, mainly from the couch and the impact was impressive.
“The physical impact was impressive and above all, the impact on the ball – his working speed, his defensive impact, his hard work in back pressure, his tracking in his position was impressive.
“I had the strong feeling that we have to nominate him, bring him in to push him to stay at that level and not fall back in old routines.
“This camp is to connect with him and push him to stay at that level.”
Analysis: Tuchel wants experience in First Squad
Rob Dorsett from Sky Sports News at Wembley:
“We wondered if Thomas Tuchel would run a number of surprises – and boy, he has.
“Head of this is the recall of Henderson. From sight, out of sight for many fans of England while sticking his profession for Ajax, he has not played for his country in November 2023 since Malta.
“Injury problems for Kobbie Mainoo and Conor Gallagher may have had some influence here, including the reluctance of Crystal Palace for Adam Wharton to join, because he still gets complete fitness after a surgery.
“The recording of Rashford is a big head, after his year -long international exile. But he offers something that few other English players do – enormous experience. He has 60 caps, 17 international goals and raw pace, with a capacity to go beyond Harry Kane.
“The first senior call-up from Myles Lewis-Skelly is a really striking moment for him and for this team of England. You feel that he could be the first choice of England for many years to come.
“It proves that Tuchel is not anti-youth in his selection-all pragmatic, when applying the director that they are old enough if they are good enough. Lewis-Skelly feels a positive and exciting inclusion.
“There are also four keepers in – Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale and James Trafford, who is the clean leaf machine [for Burnley in the Championship] And one for the future.
“I have never seen an English manager choose four keepers. Maybe he is not sure who he wants the no 2 choice is.
“In the absence of Harry Maguire due to injury, Burne gets his chance. Reece James also returns with Trent Alexander-Arnold now injured. He knows him well from his time in Chelsea.
“The big news comes from the absence just as well as from those who got the nod. Ollie Watkins is not in this team, who had come as a surprise, but he took the middle week in Europe.
“Jack Grealish is remarkable because of his absence, but he just didn't play enough football to earn that opportunity. He has only made three Premier League replacement performances this calendar year.
“There are many surprises in this team. What do we read in that? Tuchel wants some experience in this English team.”
