Tuchel plans 60-day crash course to lead England to World Cup glory

Thomas Tuchel has devised a 60-day emergency course for his New England team to go from almost men to lifting the World Cup.

The Three Lions boss has six international windows for America next summer, starting on Monday when his 26-man team meets for qualifications against Albania and Latvia.

Tuchel admitted that it gives the new coaching staff little time to implement their ideas, but is planning to herald in a new playing style that is more in line with Premier League teams.

The German suggested that the recent performances of England have been too slow and the pace at which they want to operate.

“It has to reflect the Premier League, it is a very physical and direct competition,” said Tuchel. 'We must be brave enough to play as a team in England, not to copy too many other nations and other styles.

'It should reflect the values of the country and the strongest competition in the world. We will try to implement a direct, attacking style, try to increase our rhythm and intensity in our game and to do it from a crash course from Monday and to let it go for Friday [against Albania].

“Not much is missing. It is clearly a bit fog. The feeling is that it is only a small step to bring it over the line.

'If we want to be willing to be in the next final, we must now do it in the first camp. We only have six camps, only have 60 days. We have to take care of every day. If we hopefully do this, the final step will take care of itself. '

Tuchel has had extensive discussions with former interim boss Lee Carsley in St George's Park to determine how flexible the team can be from a tactical perspective.

But the new manager – whose performance at Wembley after announcing the team was viewed by his coaching team and FA technical director John McDermott – offered surprises through a shock heritage for Jordan Henderson despite a lack of start for Ajax.

“Jordan is easy, he is a serial winner, he is a captain of Ajax,” Tuchel added. “He played many matches.

'He brings leadership, character, personality and energy to ensure that everyone lives according to the standards.

'With his characteristics, he embodies everything and what our fans can be proud of. Jordan embodies everything we want to be from this team. '

Tuchel also revealed the emotionally challenging decision about Myles Lewis-Skelly and whether the 18-year-old was promoted too early.

“With injuries lately and the last one from Lewis Hall, we got more without left-wing drivers,” said the 51-year-old.

“We were always impressed by Myles. He regularly became so fast for Arsenal. Huge confidence in his club.

'I can understand that it feels like we have quickly forwarded a career that is always at a fast pace. The conversations we had were a bit of a parental, a protective atmosphere not to nominate him.

'Let him go to the under 21's, a bit out of the spotlight. Is it our responsibility not to take him? But in the end we decided to take him with its quality and adulthood. '
