Tuchel reveals White’s stance on England return following Arsenal star’s boycott

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Arsenal defender Ben White is open to return to the English team after he has not made himself available before a well-documented dispute at the World Cup 2022.

White, 26, cannot be seen in front of the three lions since leaving the Qatar camp early after a reported argument with the English assistant coach Steve Holland. Gareth Southgate later revealed that the defender had made it clear that he was not eligible for selection under his management.

The boss of New England Tuchel, who took over it in January, has since held discussions with White about a potential return and confirmed that the Arsenal star is now prepared to be part of the national team setup.

Tuchel, however, did not mention White in his first team prior to this month's qualifications against Albania and Latvia in Wembley.

Tuchel said with reporters on Friday: 'He would like to be back in the team. I just think it is a bit too early now given the severity of the injury he had.

'I am happy that he is back in back-to-back training sessions. Huge compliments for the FA medical and performance staff.

'We are honored to speak to him and speak to Ben, pleased that he is back on the couch.

'Now it's just a matter of getting more minutes, more rhythm. He wants to be back. '

Although he has collected 150 performances for Arsenal since 2021, White has so far only won four England caps.

Since his last international appearance, White Arsenal has helped twice as second in the Premier League.

He got away from football in the summer of 2023 to wife Milly Adams and the couple enjoyed several vacations during international breaks.

Although there was no room for White in the English team on this occasion, both Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford were returned by Tuchel.

Arsenal-Teen Illes Lewis-Skelly was also mentioned for the first time in the Senior Squad of England, while then Burn van Newcastle got his first call-up at the age of 32, as was predicted exclusively for post sport.

Rashford returns to the England fold for the first time in a year, with Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins a remarkable absence.

England will start their qualifying campaigns against Albania and Latvia in 2026.
