Thomas Tuchel told his army of talented game makers that some of them will look at the World Cup from their banks.
The boss of New England has more candidates for No. 10 than a voter in a general election.
Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Morgan Gibbs-White all compete to play as central attacking midfielders.
But Tuchel has warned that some of them will not go to the United States next summer, because he has to select the most well -balanced team instead of simply choosing all his best players.
The boss of England claims that Real Madrid Galactico Bellingham, 21, and the 24-year-old Foden of Manchester City can play in the same team, despite much proof of the opposite.
Chelsea Talisman Palmer is wounded, but is also a no. 10 in World Class, while fellow 22-year-old Rogers-Die plays in that role for the quarter-finalists of the Champions League Aston Villa-Naar Expectation will start on the wing against Latvia on Monday.
And Gibbs-White, 25, who replaced Palmer in the team for the 2-0 victory of Friday evening in Albania, has been excellent in that position for high-flying Nottingham Forest.
But Tuchel said: “Some no 10s just can't play. We have to have the process good to find the best group. If that means we leave very good and talented players outside the team, this can happen.
“We have to get the team well, because it is one thing to play qualifications, it's something else to play tournament bootball.”
Tuchel seems to be committed to Bellingham as his first choice, no.
In the fall, interim boss Lee Carsley Bellingham, Foden and Palmer selected in the same unorthodox starting line-up and the failed bad because the three lions members a embarrassing 2-1 Nations League home defeat by Greece.
Carsley also used Jack Grealisk van de Stad, mainly a winger, as a no. 10 during his six-match regime last fall, but Tuchel left the 29-year-old due to a lack of playing time with his club.
Tuchel admits that Foden has rarely produced his club form in a 44-cap England career.
He said: “Phil would rather not play 10, maybe it would fit him more.
“We also have Rogers who is very impressive. We also have Palmer.
“The players have to take what they get. Phil can play on the wing, like a nine in the middle of the field.
“He just misses what these creative players sometimes miss – trust and the electricity.
“He tries hard, you see his investment in defensive actions.
“It just doesn't really happen. You sometimes see it in the clubs, it's not just here with England.”
But asked if Bellingham and Foden can play well, Tuchel replied: “One hundred percent can play together.
“The figures from Phil are incredibly good for Man City. They are not so good for the national team, so we have to try to build something to see the Phil Foden from Man City.”
Tuchel was surprised by his public criticism of Foden and Marcus Rashford attracted so much attention.
He said: “We try to be honest. But nothing I say in public is something they have never heard of me before.
“Sometimes I am surprised with what people try to make it that Marcus and Phil must be offended. I don't see it.”
