Chaotic scenes unfolded in Paris and two people died when Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain claimed the victory on Saturday night at Inter Milan in the Champions League final
Two people died tragically in France in the aftermath of the success of the Champions League of Paris Saint-Germain while parties fell in collisions with the police. A 17-year-old boy was put in the chest and a 20-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle with supporters, by reports in France.
A total of 426 people were arrested, including 417 in Paris, where 216 people in the police, 207 in Paris, were held from Sunday morning. Tensions arose after the game of Saturday evening with 13 police officers and 192 others injured.
Already in the break, with PSG UP 2-0 thanks to goals from Achraf Hakimi and Desire Done, Wet Enforcement used a water cannon in the Champs-Elysées. The police claimed that it was “to protect the place the l'étoile, because the barrier set up by a large crowd of people who did not watch the game, pushing to get in touch with the police”.
That area would have been emptied peacefully in the early hours of the morning, but other areas saw fights and stores looted. However, the night is not over without tearing gas that was used and holes.
Firefighters were forced to control 148 fires because 46 vehicles were set on fire. Rockets were thrown at the police.
Shocking images on social media showed chaotic scenes while the police were armed with clubs that bumped with rioting people in the city. Close to where thousands of fans had met. Between 2,000 and 3,000 people had only gathered on the Champs-Elysées.
The French Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleeau gave his opinion about riots in no uncertain terms. He went to social media and stated: “Real PSG fans are being enthusiastic about the wonderful performance of their team.
“In the meantime, Barbarians have entered the streets of Paris to commit crimes and to provoke law enforcement. I have asked the internal security forces to respond strongly to this abuse.
“I offer my support to the prefect of the police and all police officers who guarantee everyone's safety tonight. It is unbearable that it is not possible to party without fearing the cruelty of a minority of villains that do not respect anything.”
While the Champs-Elysées is still wearing the scars of last night's problems, the area is currently still ready to organize the PSG Stars' Parade on Sunday afternoon. A special celebration is planned to mark the first success of the club in the competition with gigantic screens, speakers and music that need to be entered.
PSG claimed a 5-0 win over Inter Milan to set the record for the biggest victory ever in the final of the tournament. Achraf Hakimi opened the score before Teenage Superstar Desire Doue scored a brace.
Inter misery continued as Khicha Kvaratskhelia expanded the lead. The Paris born Aas Senny Mayulu, 19, completed the score in the night when Luis Enrique became the seventh person who won the Champions League with two different teams, who won with Barcelona earlier in 2015.
