Serhou Guirassy broke a Champions League record and became the top goalscorer of the tournament on Tuesday, but could not prevent Borussia Dortmund from crashing against Barcelona
Champions League Record Breaker Serhou Guirassy has a release clause of £ 60 million that only applies to a select group of European clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United were both connected to the Borussia Dortmund -Spits last year when he was available for only £ 14 million.
After the two Premier League giants chose not to follow a deal with Stuttgart, German rivals helled Dortmund capital and they picked the rewards. Guirassy, 29, has been productive for, for example, despite their gloomy domestic season.
This season, the Guinea International scored 28 goals in 40 performances, including 13 strikes in 14 Champions League matches. Three of them came on Tuesday when Guirassy led Dortmund's brave Vechtback against Barcelona and finally lost the quarterfinals 5-3.
His perfect hat trick brought him past Barca stars Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski to become the outright top goalscorer of this season in the Champions League. Guirassy also broke a number of records, including the most scored goals for Dortmund in a single Champions League campaign, with former black and yellow star Lewandowski and Erling Haaland (both 11) caught up.
Bittersweet, the former Stuttgart Hitman, became the first player to score a Hattrick in a Champions League Knock-Out match and was eventually eliminated. No wonder, then Guirassy is tipped for a relocation of Dortmund this summer.
According to the German Outlet Sport Bild, the contract of the 29 -year -old – which runs until 2028 – contains a release clause that is valid for about half a dozen clubs. The fixed amount that a team would have to pay is slightly less than € 70 million (£ 60 million), a huge increase in what Arsenal and United could have paid in 2024.
Both English clubs were and are still looking for a striker and Guirassy, despite his age, was an option. Chelsea was also connected to him while enjoying his late career turnout in Stuttgart and they are mentioned as one of the parties that can activate his £ 60 million clause.
That clause can only be activated after the club World Cup this summer in which Dortmund will participate. Guirassy is supposed to be happy in the Signal Iduna Park, but given that his club will probably miss playing Champions League football next season, he can be lured away.

Bvb is eighth at the getting away in the Bundesliga table and recently appointed ex-Bayern Munich boss Nico Kovac after firing Nuri Sahin. Supported by a raw home crowd, Dortmund flirted with a comeback at home to Barcelona, who also scored Guirassy twice during the competition phase in December, but their 4-0 defeat in the Poot last week turned out to be fatal.
“I am proud because we played a great game and I think the fans were very satisfied,” the striker told Prime Video Sport after the game. “She [the home fans] Saw good football.
“The 4-0 score in Barcelona was a bit too much to come back. It is a shame that we were too far behind in the game of the year. That will serve us as a lesson for future competitions. But we fought until the end. Barcelona has a brilliant team, we are also a brilliant team.
“It is wonderful to be the top goalscorer in the Champions League. There are very good players. First means that I am a good striker. But I can't do it alone, without the team. It's a shame that the competition ends today.”
