Udinese 0-4 AC Milan: Visitors bounce back with thumping win

AC Milan achieved their first victory in almost a month after winning a convincing 4-0 win in Udinese in the Serie A on Friday.

The visitors scored twice in each half to end a point of three games without a victory in all competitions, so that they were moved from fourth place within six points.

Tijjani Reijnders should have opened the score less than a minute, benefit from a defensive mix, but are refused by a fine Maduka Okoye Save.

After that there was little to split the teams until Rafael Leao hit a wonderfully curly shot in the upper corner to break the impasse in the 42nd minute.

Strahinja Pavlovic scored a QuickFire second for the break, high up to meet the corner of Christian Pulisic to give the side of Sergio Concukicao in control.

Milan, however, lost goalkeeper Mike Maignan early in the second half after a terrible collision of heads with teammate Alex Jimenez. The French goalkeeper was taken off the field on a stretcher.

Theo Hernandez then shot in the third in the 74th minute – the defender started the movement in his own half before joining Tammy Abraham, who opened the space for his strike.

Reijnders, who had seen the chances begged during the game, then completed the routes from close by, without putting pressure on it by Udinese.

Milan is ninth in the Serie A at 51 points after 32 games, six points behind the fourth placed Bologna, who travel to Atalanta on Sunday. Udinese are 11th with 40 points.

Data Debrief: Milan Find Clinical Edge

It was a much needed victory for Milan, who had closed the pace after winning only two of their previous seven Series A matches prior to this match.

However, after completing the double over Udinese for the first time since 2007-08, Milan gave himself some hope to earn a place in the top four this season.

Leao set them on their way and took care of his seventh goal of the season, all of them came from home.

And although they looked impressive at the top of the field, they also held their first clean leaves since 15 February, with a number of nine trips in all competitions without one.
