UEFA has issued a statement about their lack of winners medals for Tottenham after the Europa League final.
The North Londoners ended their 17-year-old waiting for a trophy with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the final of Wednesday in Bilbao.
But there were not enough medals to go around for the players before the trophy presentation.
And UEFA has explained why they did not have enough of them in a statement with a crawling apology.
It said: “To our great displeasure, we did not have enough medals available on stage during the trophy ceremonie presentation because of an unexpected discrepancy in the number of players, because more team members – including injured players – participated in the ceremony than initially expected.
“The missing medals were immediately delivered to the winning team in the dressing room, together with our sincere apologies for supervision.”
Among the injured Spurs players who went for a medal, England was -midfielder James Maddison.
The former former midfielder of Leicester City attracted a full kit when he went upstairs to collect a medal, something that Schipperzoon Heung-Min did not have because he lifted the trophy.
Maddison explained why he was in a complete kit and told CBS Sports: “They said I had to turn on the kit to get a medal!
“I didn't want to do John Terry!
'What a special feeling. Make [the season] Everything well – the pain of not playing is unable to help the team.
“It is a brilliant achievement and a way to qualify for the Champions League, but it is more to win for the fans.
“They have had years of pain.”
The future of Ange Postecoglou with Spurs has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months because of the club's sad prime minister.
But the Aussie apparently does not intend to walk out of the club and tell TNT Sports: “I don't feel that I have still completed the track, we are still building.
“The moment I accepted the role, I had one thing in my head, and that was to win something.
More than whatever I had that in my head, and we have done that now, so I want to build on it. “
