UFC 318 fighter issues apologetic statement after shock loss damages hopes to break major record in 2025

The UFC 318-PAY-PER-View on Saturday did not go to plan for the always entertaining of Kevin Holland.

The latest PPV from the UFC was led by a high-profile BMF title fight, while Dustin Poirier withdrew against Max Holloway in the last fight in a trilogy that has covered 13 years.

While the absence of a division title and top-10 contenders left many the UFC 318-line-up, the map was not a shortage of entertaining action, because many fighters made the most out of their possibilities to impress the Poirier pension event.

One of the many expected to do Holland this year, who had taken the lead this year after he returned to Welterweight, where Gunnar Nelson and Vicente Luque were defeated in successive fights to return to the ranking.

But even though he was a tough favorite about Daniel Rodriguez, 'Trailblazer' fell on the wrong side of a decision after he and 'D-Rod' were piled in New Orleans.

Kevin Holland issues the first statement after the defeat of the UFC 318

Holland vs. Rodriguez enthusiastically the fans, but the defeat in Smoothie King Center marked a blow to the ambitions of the former. That is after he was tipped for a potential turnout in title conflicts on 170 pounds after his fast entry victory over Luque.

But 'trail blower' does not seem to be too much on its own, as he demonstrated with a fairly light -hearted first explanation about the loss on social media.

“That boy was just a good boxing,” wrote Holland on X. “Sorry for all the parlays we fought.”

The 32-year-old was able to be completely out of the Welterweight Top 15 as a result of Saturday's performance, with Rodriguez expecting to inherit his number 13 spot in Tuesday's ranking update.

But the first loss of Holland in three fights damaged more than just his place in the pecking order.

That boy was like a soap bar but good boxing 🥊 Sorry for all the parlays we fought

UFC 318 gave a blow to Kevin Holland's plan to include the most victories in a calendar year

Holland has undoubtedly been the most active hunter of the UFC lately, with the Pay-Per View of 29 July already its fourth fight of 2025.

Die Run brought a few records to the sights of Holland, but one was probably eliminated from the comparison because of what happened on UFC 318.

'Big Mouth' has expressed the wish to break his own records for both most fights and most victories in the UFC in a single calendar year. Holland Bond Roger Huerta and Neil Magny stuck for the last record when he won five straight periods in 2020.

A victory over Rodriguez is said to have been the third of this year of Holland, and given his hope to fight three more times to set the activity record, it would have kept his ambitious hope for six victories in a calendar year alive.
