UFC 318 star offered Dana White a $1 million bet that he’d beat the UFC champ before losing debut to a contender

UFC 318 star Patricio Pitbull was so confident in his chances of beating the best of the UFC that he was even ready to bet $ 1 million with Dana White.

Pitbull is confronted with then IgE at UFC 318 in his return to action this Saturday. The 38-year-old wants to make a splash on the biggest stage in MMA in his career, after he had started his way to the UFC after a long and successful run under the Bellator banner.

The Brazilian made his wish to leave the PFL clear and quickly walked to the Octagon after he had given his wish. But the tumultuous time of Pitbull in the PFL did not mark his first time seen a UFC future.

In fact, it was once so much his superiority about the worldwide schedule of featherweight that Pitbull made a significant offer to UFC CEO Dana White.

Patricio Pitbull was willing to set $ 1 million for a cross-promotion collision with Alexander Volkanovski

In August 2020, Pitbull was a Bellator champion with two division in the midst of his second featherweight rule and first on 155 pounds.

After he had collected a record of 30-4 at the time, he was generally considered the greatest hunter who competed outside the leading promotion of the sport. But Pitbull wanted to leave without a doubt.

In the midst of a back and forth about how he would accumulate against his UFC counterpart, the still ruling Alexander Volkanovski, Pitbull offered to use $ 1 million in a bet with Dana White.

“Anyway good for me. I know for sure if @danawhite and the @UFC are open to his @bellatormma will let me fight there against their champions,” Pitbull wrote on X. “I will even personally use 1 million dollars with white that I win. How does that sound like a stimulus?”

In a follow -up post, the Brazilian insisted on White and the UFC: “Put your money where your mouth is.”

Anyway, works well for me. I am sure that if @danawhite and the @UFC are open to it @bellatormma will let me fight there against their champions. I will even personally bet 1 million dollars with white that I win. How does that sound like a stimulus?

Patricio Pitbull lost his UFC debut almost 5 years after his bet

It is not surprising, given the long-known restraint of the UFC to talk about cross-promotion events, the range of Pitbull fell on deaf ears under White and Co. Despite the positive response from Volkanovski.

But the MMA legend eventually got his chance to prove himself, when he finally put pen on paper about a deal with the UFC earlier this year.

Unfortunately for the Brazilian he could not have an immediate impact. Instead, Yair Rodriguez defeated Pitbull on UFC 314 to play Spoiler and block the plan of the Bellator Great for a quick rise of a title shot.

At the age of 38 it is now crucial that Pitbull bounces back by beating IgE on UFC 318 if he will keep the hope of booking a long discussion with Volkanovski and becomes a UFC champion alive.
