Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev
The most important event of UFC 319 Pits UFC Middleweight Champion du Plessis against Chimaev in a fight that could go in all directions.
The 14-0 Chimaev has used its wrestling skills to dominate all eight of its UFC opponents so far, including big names such as Robert Whittaker, Kamaru Usman and Kevin Holland.
However, he has not fought since October last year, so that almost a year is left between fighting, which could indicate a ring rust for the Emirati hunter.
In the meantime, Du Plessis confirmed himself as the greatest hunter ever in the South Africa in February, when he defeated American Sean Strickland for the second time to expand his own record to 23-2.
Chimaev has collected an All-Star training camp for this fight, because he wants to become world champions in the UFC for the first time in a massive main event of UFC 319.
Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates
Two men who recently lost to Ian Machado Garry will fight on UFC 319 in the Co-Main Event Fight in Chicago.
Geoff Neal was defeated by Garry on UFC 298, while Carlos Prates went five rounds before a unanimous decision loss for the Irishman in the main event of the UFC at ESPN show in April.
While Neal won a victory over Rafael Dos Anjos in October last year, he is still looking for a big victory to get back on the right track, the same as prates.
Prates must be sure to win it given his superior record, although the time will tell how he can bounce back from his first UFC defeat.
Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page
Two top middle weights that are looking for the UFC ranks are in action against each other in what an exciting fight should be at UFC 319.
Jared Cannonier and Michael Page come into their last fight, including Page's return to middleweight in February.
Both men have won about half of their fights through knockout and each have only three losses. This one seems to not go the distance.
The only uncertainty is which powerhouse will remain at the end of the game.
Tim Elliot vs. Kai Asakura
Former Ultimate Fighter winner and UFC veteran Tim Elliot is in action on August 16, looking for consistency after a few mixed results in the Octagon.
Elliot has won two of his last five fights and has no longer three victories in a row in Titan FC since his time in Titan FC.
Kai Asakura, however, has an even greater motivation to win – to keep his job in the UFC. The Japanese hunter lost his debut at UFC 310, and a second consecutive loss could end his time in the promotion after a huge success in Japan.
This is the first fight of Elliot in 17 months, and a loss can be devastating for his future ambitions.
