In anticipation of his fight this weekend in UFC Abu Dhabi, Petr Yan is closed to play the backup role for the UFC 320 Co-Main event.
The coming Saturday at the UFC Abu Dhabi Co-Main event, former Bantam weight champion Petr Yan will collide against the rising competition Marcus Mcghee.
In anticipation of their collision, which was considered a bizarre booking by UFC fans, Yan claimed that he was promised a title shot before he was told that he would have to fight 'the maniac'.
And with that, the UFC boss Dana White recently announced that the next defending defense of Merab Dvalishvili against Cory Sandhagen will be in the UFC 320 Co-Main event.

Petr Yan calls for a back -up role for UFC 320 title fight
Two years ago, Dvalishvili and Yan bumped into a main event of Fight Night, which was dominated by 'The Machine', which of course won the 135LB band.
Since then, 'No Mercy' has done well to bounce back from his losing series by winning back-to-back fights, with the third in sight.
And for his big fight this weekend and the UFC 320 Co-Main event in mind, the Russian claimed that he would like to weigh as the backup for the big title fight.
“I don't think I have to jump someone, the UFC has their own plans, I have already defeated Cory Sandhagen … I believe I have to fight against the winner and if they need someone to be back for this fight, I will accept that offer,” Yan told Mmafighting.
The 32-year-old admitted that there were conversations for him earlier this year to fight against the popular Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Baku, but the promotion opted for the fight against Mcghee instead.

In recent months, Merab Dvalishvili has received much more recognition and is now consistently labeled as the largest Bantamweight of all time.
And with that even Yan de Georgian has named the largest 135 pound Jager of all time, given his recent series of victories in the division.
“Yes, why not, he is almost everyone at the top defeated and deteriorated, so you can really say that he is now the biggest in our division,” said Yan.
