UFC champion Alex Pereira humbles massive bodybuilder in intense arm wrestling contest

Alex Pereira stopped a bodybuilder from an arm wrestling fight during a recent visit to Korea.

The UFC light heavyweight champion was spotted performing some bizarre tasks during a recent trip while visiting Asia. It appears he has been enjoying his time away from the Octagon after defending the world title three times in seven months, taking in the sights and meeting fans.

Now, a video has gone viral of Pereira taking on bodybuilder and influencer Kim Kang Min in an arm wrestling match. The clip comes from a vlog in which the bodybuilder goes to the gym with Pereira and takes him through a number of workouts.

Alex Pereira makes bodybuilder quit in viral arm wrestling video

During his stay in Korea, Alex Pereira hit the gym with celebrity influencer Kim Kang Min, who shot to fame on the reality show Physical 100. The massive 209-pound bodybuilder took him through a series of workouts before they went arm wrestling.

“I'm curious,” he told Pereira through an interpreter before taking on the challenge. 'I'll see if I'm strong enough [compete].” Pereira then appeared to respond in Portuguese: “I'm strong in competitions, but I'm weak when it comes to lifting weights.”

The duo then went arm wrestling, with the results going pretty much as expected. The bodybuilder appeared to be putting in maximum effort and was visibly sweating as Pereira watched him undisturbed.

Ultimately, the pair agreed to a draw at Pereira's suggestion, with the Kim certainly looking happy they weren't defeated. They moved on to other exercises and seemed friendly as the video ended with them showing off their respective signature poses.

Fans react to Alex Pereira's arm wrestling video

The consensus among fans who saw the viral clip seemed to be that Pereira, a professional fighter, had his muscles better prepared for active competition. Meanwhile, the bodybuilder had a much more aesthetically impressive physique without much practical use.

“Alex has real power. Bodybuilder has show muscles,” one fan wrote, while another added: “Alex Pereira gave that bodybuilder a free physics lesson – turns out muscles don't mean much when you're up against a human forklift!”

Others noted that Pereira simply has a more combat-based power, with one explaining: “It's a completely different power. Bodybuilders carry a lot of water weight. Fighters are lean and their muscles are denser.”

It's a welcome break for 'Poatan,' who took part in one of the most hellish runs in UFC history in April, June and October. He first defeated Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 before stepping up on short notice to rematch Jiri Prochazka and save UFC 303.

He then faced lower-ranked Khalil Rountree Jr at UFC 307 in October. That fight, interestingly, lasted the longest yet, as he was dragged to the fourth round by the American before ultimately landing another KO.
