UFC cuts exciting submission artist with two fights left on his contract

A six-time UFC flying weight has been released from the grid.

In recent months we have seen a number of once clear prospects and veterans that have been removed from the UFC selection, such as Brad Tavares, the former competitionman who fought champions Israel Adesanya, Dricus du Plessis and Robert Whittaker.

The last schedule round took place in the men's flying weight division (125 pounds), the weight class with the second lowest amount of male hunters (only behind heavyweight).

On Thursday, flying weight Jimmy Flick, the owner of the Second Flying Triangle entrance in the UFC history, received the phone call he had lost his job.

Jimmy Flick says that UFC release is 'heartbreaking'

Flick recently fought and lost to Matt Schnell in UFC Kansas City last month by decision.

This was not the last fight of his contract, Flick revealed that he had two more fights before he got his walking paper.

“I received the call yesterday that the UFC cut me,” said Flick on Facebook Live.

“It's a difficult pill to swallow. When 2-4 in the UFC, I understand a bit. I mean, I mean, I hoped to perhaps a 'fight of the night' version, to get some more money, to open my gym …

“Unfortunately I don't get my contract with the last two fights and it's heartbreaking,” said Flick.

“At the age of 34 I still have the feeling that I at the height of where I could be. I felt that I was getting better every fight.”

Thinking about his last fight against Schnell, Flick thought he won round 1 and 2 and said that an entry attempt cost him. Flick is now a free agent and looks to fight again, hoping to fill his dream to open his own gym.

“I don't think I'm done yet,” said the once retired film.

“I made one mistake and it cost me,” said Flick about his guillotine attempt on Schnell.

“I can cash in myself. I still plan to open my gym. I have to take small steps to make that happen.”

Jimmy Flick Moisty Talented Flying Weights To The Finish

'The Brick' brought an exciting fighting style to the flight weight division, a kill-of-be-worked hunter who rarely went the distance in his 26-Fight pro career. Brick had a 100% finishing percentage of Contender Series, where he was signed in 2020, for his fourth fight in the UFC.

“Flick always had nice fights,” wrote a fan on Instagram.

“I have always become exciting to see his name on the map, always brought the heat, I will miss him,” wrote another fan about the UFC release of Flick.

Flick took the highlight of his career in his promotion debut when he submitted Cody Durden with one of the rarest entries in the UFC history: a flying triangle. Flick jumped out of the air and sinks $ 50,000 in performance bonuses.

The flying triangle was perhaps the biggest submission of 2020, above that with Khabib Nurmagomedov's Triangle -Choke by Justin Gaethje.

Flick pulled himself shortly after this victory and returned to 2023 years later.

Flick fought against some of the world's best flying weights such as multi -year -old competitor Schnell, Charles Johnson, Nate Maness and Alessandro Costa.

Flick's second UFC victory was an arm-triangle choke of Malcolm Gordon on UFC 297 in 2024. His seventh pro-entering with the word 'triangle' in it (of which we know).
