UFC doctor made disturbing five-word prediction before calling off Colby Covington vs Joaquin Buckley

UFC cameras caught the cageside doctor making a worrying prediction to end the final main event of the year.

Welterweight contenders Colby Covington and Joaquin Buckley clashed on the UFC Tampa card, which took place Saturday night at Amalie Arena in Florida.

Buckley was behind the wheel after two laps. The 30-year-old had dropped Covington and suffered a nasty cut just above his right eye.

Just before the end of round three, veteran referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the action and invited the UFC doctor to check out the damage.

Colby Covington almost lost his eyelid

Viral footage shows the doctor taking one look at the cut and immediately shaking her head in the direction of the referee, who she advised to stop the fight.

The doctor claimed that Covington would “lose the eyelid” if he were allowed to continue competing.

“It's hanging down,” she told Miragliotta.

'He's going to lose his eyelid.

“See how it's cut open?”

As soon as he heard those words come out of the doctor's mouth, the referee immediately waved off the fight, giving Buckley the biggest win of his career.

Covington seemed dissatisfied with the decision. The fans had mixed reactions to the finish, with his opponent barely celebrating the disappointing end to a stellar year for the UFC.

Dana White disagrees with the doctor's suspension.

Dana White thinks Covington vs Buckley should have gone ahead.

The UFC boss openly admitted that 'Mayhem' was down to a bad cut, but the 55-year-old insists he would have been allowed to fight through it if the event had taken place elsewhere.

White said during his post-fight press conference: “I was curious to see how it would go if it had been five rounds.

“There's no doubt that it was a bad version, but that fight is not stopped in Vegas – that fight is 100 percent in Vegas.

“Love him or hate him, the man is a dog, tough as nails, has taken big shots to the body, big shots to the head that would have knocked out a lot of people…Colby is durable and tough, but when If you get cut, anything can happen.

“It was definitely bothering him, and literally as soon as the corner would fix it, he'd wait to walk back out and rip it open again, causing it to start bleeding again.

“That alone says the cut bothered him a lot.”
