UFC Bantam weight then Argueta announces MMA pension
At the age of 31, Daniel Argueta decided to withdraw from MMA.
Argueta comes from a rough 2024 in the UFC, after he has lost back-to-back fights on a 14-0 Jean Matsumoto and a 7-1 Cody Haddon in October.
Argueta missing weight with a few pounds in his last fight, says that the UFC recently removed him from his contract.
“It is with a heavy heart that I decided today to hang my gloves,” Argueta confirmed his MMA pension on Instagram.
“After I have received news about the UFC, I did not give myself the chance to complete the last fight on my contract, I finally decided to run the page and write my next chapter.
To be a beautiful woman, and it showed me that I can do something that I can do something.
“For everyone who believed in me and supported me, thanks. I am sorry that I could no longer reach the sport. I had big dreams and was willing to go until the wheels fell off, but God had other plans for me.
“For my family, friends, team that I promise to always bring the same enthusiasm, laughter and determination wherever I go in life. It is the least I can do.”
Dan Argueta matters with MMA: 'You are a cruel sob'
Although there are a considerable amount of MMA pensioners of short duration with hunters who eventually return, Argueta says that this is not the case for him.
The 31-year-old closes the door of the fighting game and he doesn't look back.
“For the roughest, most difficult, most demanding job on earth (next to aging). You are a cruel son of AB ****,” Argueta said about fighting in the cage.
“But I will always love what we had. This is not one perhaps that we will come together again. This is a farewell. The chance is waiting.”
Daniel Argueta started his MMA career in 2017 and became Pro in 2019.
Argueta went 5-0 in the LFA where he became the Bantamweight champion of the promotion. The former LFA champion was also a participant in 'The Ultimate Fighter 29' and lost to the winner of that season Ricky Turcios.
Argueta had one only victory in the UFC and gave Nick Aguirre his first loss in 2023.
Argueta went without a victory in his next four battles with two no-contest results in a row, one because of a referee error and the other because Argueta's opponent tested Miles Johns positively for Turinabol, the same steroid Jon Jones was hung in 2017 after his Rematch with Daniel Cormier.
Just like Jones, Johns initially won, but the result was later destroyed because of the positive drug test.
