UFC legend Chris Weidman chokes his friend unconscious as they settle $5,000 poker debt

Former UFC champion Chris Weidman gave one of his friends a unique ultimatum over a $5,000 gambling debt.

Chris Weidman will not shy away from a possible return to the UFC Octagon despite recent calls for him to retire following a defeat at UFC 310. It's nothing new for the 40-year-old Weidman after several difficult performances since recovering from a nasty injury. leg injury suffered against Uriah Hall at UFC 261.

As Weidman plots a UFC comeback against a yet-to-be-determined opponent, he is enjoying some time away from fighting to rest and recover. But in or out of the cage, if Weidman comes after you, you're in a precarious situation.

After one of Weidman's friends suffered a huge loss during poker night, the former UFC champion gave his friend two options. He could either pay off the entire $5,000 poker debt or agree to be strangled unconscious with Weidman on his back.

Despite the obvious health risks associated with choking someone with a cold, Weidman's friend chose the latter option in an attempt to spare himself a financial struggle.

In a recent Instagram post, Weidman explained what happened and shared images of the option his friend decided on.

“He lost at poker last night. It was either pay 5k or pass out! What are you doing?” Weidman posted.

Fortunately, it appears Weidman's friend took the choke and suffered no lingering effects from the submission. But in the future, Weidman's friends could be wary of placing high-stakes bets while under the same roof.

Weidman is one of the most talented middleweights in UFC history with wins over Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida. He won the UFC middleweight title with one of MMA's all-time wins against Silva at UFC 162.

Since returning to professional MMA at UFC 292, Weidman has lost two of his last three fights, including a TKO loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310 earlier this month. His last win was controversial against Bruno Silva in March.

Although Weidman's friend escaped a $5,000 debt, he couldn't escape the fallout from the former UFC champion's loss on poker night. Regardless of Weidman's recent struggles in the cage, he remains a dangerous man outside of it.
