Carlos Prates had Ian Machado Garry in a world of problems in UFC Kansas City … or anyway?
In his second UFC Main Event during the weekend, 'Fighting Nerds' Star Carlos Prates stood for a step in competition against the #7-ranked Ian Machado Garry.
The welterweight Matchup was not that competitive in the first 3-4 rounds with Machado Garry that led the dance with its striking output and multiple Takedowns.
Prates landed on average 12.6 strikes in each round, almost double the last round where he had Machado Garry pain with soil and pound strikes. Machado Garry crawled around the canvas and reached for the legs of prates while trying to survive.
Both hunters absolutely exhausted, Machado Garry made it out of round 5 to win through a unanimous decision at UFC Kansas City.
In what others see as an almost finish for prates, a UFC analyst thinks that Machado Garry is doing fine.

Chael Sonnen says that the biggest moment of Carlos Prates was 'enormously embellished'
Days away from the thriller in Kansas City, three-time UFC title Challenger Chael Sonnen refutes that the narrative prates was about to finish Machado Garry in the last minute.
“That moment in the fifth round was enormously embellished,” Sonen said on a good guy / bad guy.
“I read something on Twitter, it spoke about …” I can't believe he didn't finish it in the fifth round … “
“He wasn't even around to finish him in the fifth round,” Sonen explained.
“There was a place where he could have swarmed and tried to end, and then we could all guess what would happen. But it is not as if Ian was doing so badly.
Sonnen went on.
“Ian has armed the pace. When he came to his run, he breaks into the top 15 … Then we have to wonder about championship rounds and large fights, Co-Main events and main events.
“When the lights are burning and all the pressure is on you, it responds fine,” said the UFC analyst about Machado Garry.
John McCarthy says that Carlos Prates 'One shot' could have been a 10-8 round
All three judges scored around 5 10-9 in favor of prates, two judges also give him round 4.
Prates not able to close the show in round 5, how close was the Brazilian to secure a 10-8 round?
“He could not cause enough damage,” said the legendary MMA referee 'Big' John McCarthy about prates about the roads in podcast.
“The dominance, the damage should have been great because he only dominated a small part of the round. I thought he had won it from the start in principle [of round 5]The first minute even of it and then he starts to win the round.
“It is a marginal round as far as he is ready, but it is with a slender margin. Then he starts to take over. And by the end he really starts to dominate, but it was not what we call rule with the time of time
“It was a short time and Garry looked like he's in trouble, and he was damaging him, but it wasn't enough to give it 10-8.
“It is one of that, like 10-8.5,” said McCarthy about Prates that won round 5.
“He was coming. But he needed a little more. It could only have been one shot in the difference that could be possible, because he is now not only in that position of he is starting to become dominant. The damage is so dramatic that you are now going to say, I'm going to give, I'm going to give [10-8] it.'”
