UFC legend Jon Jones chopped off a piece of Jackass star Steve-O’s ear after stunt went horribly wrong

Jackass star Steve-O is a huge UFC fan who often sits front row at events.

The professional daredevil is such an MMA fan that he wants to look like his favorite fighters and has tried to give himself cauliflower ear without undergoing the training that leaves fighters with the condition.

Steve-O hooked up with Jon Jones in 2020 and thought the UFC legend was the perfect person to help him look a little more like a fighter.

A few years later, the American recapped the few days he spent with Jones, who was encouraged to use a variety of strange, unusual and painful methods to try to give Steve-O cauliflower ear.

Steve-O tells Daniel Cormier about his brief friendship with Jon Jones

“Jon Jones tried to give me a cauliflower ear. So we're at Jon Jones' house and he has barbells with the weights,” Steve-O recalled on Daniel Cormier's Multifaceted podcast in June 2022.

'We put my ear between the weights and he seemed to elbow it. My ear pops out and he says, 'That's it, you got it, that's the cauliflower ear,' and a few days later nothing happened.

“So the last thing we did on one of Jon Jones' training machines was I put my ear on it like a metal base bar.

“He puts on his belt, which at the time was the current light heavyweight championship belt. It was right after he defended the title against Dominick Reyes. He puts my ear to this metal thing and hits it with a hammer, a full-blown Home Depot hammer.

Unsurprisingly, Jones couldn't give Steve-O a cauliflower ear, and he ended up causing serious damage that resulted in the UFC heavyweight champion having to cut away a chunk of the MTV icon's flesh.

He added: “It seems like everything is cool and in these images it's the craziest thing you've ever seen. In these images he's hammering, hitting it, and then all of a sudden, one blow, and then the blood just spurts out from under this belt. We all panicked

“My ear is shot so far that a whole piece of my ear is hanging down and it's the most intense thing you've ever seen. We took some scissors and just cut off this whole piece of my ear. Jon did it. Jon cut it up, just one piece.”

It sounds like a story too wild to be true, but Steve-O has proudly shared photos and videos of the entire ordeal on his social media pages.

Steve-O revealed that he didn't hear from Jones again after that incident. It could be because the MMA fighter was shocked by what happened, or because he had a heavyweight debut to prepare for.

Jon Jones is looking to cement his legacy at UFC 309.

Jones spent three years away from MMA preparing for his move to heavyweight before submitting Ciryl Gane to become a two-weight champion at UFC 285 in March 2023.

The 37-year-old was booked for his first defense against former two-time titleholder Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 last November, but an injury delayed their fight.

In the meantime, Tom Aspinall has become UFC interim heavyweight champion and defended his title with back-to-back KO victories over Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes.

Jones vs Miocic has been rebooked for UFC 309, which takes place on November 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

It is hoped the winner will unify the division in a battle with Aspinall, but it appears both men are seriously considering quitting the sport following their clash.

UFC CEO Dana White is confident that Jones will continue to fight the Englishman, even though he has repeatedly claimed that UFC 309 may be his last fight.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Jones, but no matter what happens, he will always be remembered as one of the very best MMA fighters of all time.
