UFC legend suffered mortifying moment after Dana White announced his signing in cage during event

Wanderlei Silva was involved in one of the most embarrassing moments in the UFC history when Dana White announced his return to the Octagon.

Wanderlei Silva will go down as one of the most feared hunters in the history of UFC and his nickname, 'The Ax Murderer' embodies him perfectly.

Silva made his UFC debut in 1998 for the first time when he took on Vitor Belfort in UFC Brazil, in what the first event of the promotion in the country was, with Brazil now one of the most important locations of the UFC.

Belfort hit Silva in the first round and years along the line, Silva constantly called for a rematch against Belfort, but it never flourished.

Wanderlei Silva suffered a shameful moment when Dana White announced his signature

After his first stint in the UFC, Wanderlei returned to the regional scene in Brazil. He then returned to the UFC in 2000 to record Tito Ortiz on UFC 25 and lost a unanimous decision.

After that loss, 'The AX Murderer' drew with Pride Fighting Championship where he built his name and became a huge star in combat sports.

24 fights later and after he had recorded legends as Rampage Jackson, then Henderson and Mirko Cro Cop, Silva, then signed again at the UFC.

The signed announcement of Silva, however, resulted in one of the most deadly moments in the UFC history, after Dana White entered the Octagon during UFC 61 to say that the Silva crowd returned and announced who he would fight on his return.

“Okay, I know everyone is a bit P – – now I might brighten up a bit. Wanderlei Silva has something that he wants to tell you,” White said as he entered the cage during the event.

“Thank you very much, Mr Dana White for the chance to come in here and talk to my fans here in the United States, I am very happy. My job is to fight against the best hunters in the world, for this I come here tonight,” Wanderlei started his explanation.

“I want to fight f – I want to fight here with Chuck (Liddell), F, Chuck,” Silva continued while mixing his words at an embarrassing moment.

Silva then lost against Liddell in the fight of the night

Fortunately for the fans, the fight went on, despite the fact that Chuck Liddell lost two fights in a row against Rampage Jackson and Keith Jardine.

The two bumped into UFC 79 and 'The Iceman' then won the fight through a unanimous decision in what was awarded Fight of the Night.

After the fight, Silva sent a sincere message to his fans and promised that he would bounce back in his next fight and show exactly why the UFC signed him.

He did exactly that by eliminating Jardine in just 36 seconds and by scoring one of the most devastating knockouts ever.
