UFC Hall from Famer Chael Sonen believes that Alex Pereira is making a huge mistake by leaving it back with Magomed Ankalaev.
Alex Pereira's UFC Light Heavyweight Tit Reign came to a screaming stop earlier this month on UFC 313. Magomed Ankalaev, after months of waste in conversation with the superstar Pereira, supported his words with action while beating Pereira by unanimous decision.
It was a stunning defeat for Pereira despite entering the matchup as the disputable underdog against Ankalaev. While the fight was tightly disputed from start to finish, Ankalaev had the bigger moments and got the nod on all the jury's score cards.
Almost immediately after UFC 313, the lectures about an immediate rematch between Pereira and Ankalaev. The two parties have verbally agreed to a second fight later this year, but according to a UFC legend, Pereira is not strong for redemption.

Chael Sonnen asks Alex Pereira for the pursuit of Magomed Ankalaev Runback
During a recent interview with Submission Radio, Chael Sonnen weighed on Pereira looking for an immediate rematch with Ankalaev after UFC 313.
“I am a very big fan of Alex Pereira, on a personal level, but also his work in the cage,” Sonen said about Pereira. “I have to tell you, there is nothing within that first fight, or illness, injury or a combination of both, there was nothing to believe that a reasonable analyst would cause you to have a different result in the second fight. …
“That first fight was four on one. It was four rounds for one. It was really not overly competitive. There were one [good] Done done by Pereira, such as stopping the Takedowns, “Sonnen went on.” We didn't know he had this power. It was a pretty slow pace and not much was done. I just suggest that there was nothing that we saw, even at a slow pace, even in a broken -off night or lack, there is nothing to believe that rounds will be six, seven, eight, nine and 10 different. Sonnen continued to emphasize the profit that Ankalaev could make of the first Pereira collision.
“What it is that Pereira should have learned in that work experience, why should we not believe that an equal amount would be taught by Ankalaev?” Sonnen shared. “Whatever we should believe that Pereira worked better next time to do better, why don't we believe that Ankalaev too [learned]? Ankalaev is the one who had filled his Takedowns. So in theory he is the one who would have felt and knows where the adjustments are to get the big guy out of his feet. And as soon as he has received him on the ground, I cannot imagine the jury members seeing it [Pereira’s] way.”
Pereira started his UFC Light Heavyweight Title Reign by beating Jiri Procazka for the then vacant title on UFC 295. After winning the belt, Pereira made a strong business for 'Fighter of the Year' in 2024 and defended the title three times in six months.
Alex Pereira hit back to the cheating accusations of Magomed Ankalaev's Coach
The earlier poor blood between Pereira and Ankalaev ruled after the Rematch interviews exist. The coach of Ankalaev accused Pereira of Greasing on UFC 313, using a non -specific 'ointment' to make grabbing fairs more difficult for the title Challenger.
At the moment there is no direct evidence that Pereira tried to gain an unfair benefit at UFC 313. He stopped all 12 Takedown attempts by Ankalaev.
Pereira responded to the coach's claims by combating the claims as 'apologies' for Ankalaev who did not drop him down. Ankalaev started the fight and was predicted that he would use his wrestling good against Pereira, but it turned into a clinch and striking heavy battle.
