UFC London star survives horror cut to go 9-0 against Charles Oliveira’s protégé

Flying weights set the standard for the rest of the card in a collision between two of the most exciting prospects of the division.

The UFC London Prelims still have to blow the roof of the O2-Arena on Saturday evening, but two all-action 125-ponders wanted to change that.

Various victories in the Underdog took place earlier in the night with Kaue Fernandez who kicks the card with a big win over Guram Kutateladze.

Higher on the map, Mick Parkin lost its undefeated record after a defeat against Marcin Tybura, because another perfect CV received his first blemish in 2025.

In a matchup that many emphasized as a potential battle of the night candidate, Lone'er Kavanagh avoided these potential obstacles by digging deep to go to 9-0 in his second UFC outing.

Lone'er Kavanagh beats the teammate Felipe Dos Santos of Charles Oliveira through decision

With Felipe Dos Santos on 24-year-old and Lone'er Kavanagh at 25, the two exciting flight weight competitors could have met for the first time much later in their promising career.

Instead, their paths in London crossed on March 22, where they produced a great game over three rounds that showed what both men are capable of.

DOS Santos, who trains with Charles Oliveira from Chute Boxe, started the fight well and took the opening stanza on all three score cards that the most impactful shots of the round had landed.

Kavanagh reacted brilliantly in the second and made a statement with a number of huge ground and pound attacks, but he did get some damage in response during his top check.

The elbows of Dos Santos from the bottom opened a cut in the hairline of his opponent who immediately started pouring blood into the face of Kavanagh, leaving a karmozijnrode mask at the end of the round.

This did not deduce the unbeaten hunter who continued his momentum in the third, and ended his opponent to guarantee the unanimous decision victory, while DOS Santos did not come in his fourth outing, so that he was left a UFC record of 1-3 that does not reflect his skill level.

Lone'er Kavanagh fought like a 25-year-old veteran

Everyone who has seen Lone'er Kavanagh fight knows that the 25-year-old has a dangerous combination of speed and strength on the feet.

After losing the first round against Felipe Dos Santos, he changed his approach and recorded more than 6.30 am of the control time to swing the fight in his favor.

Although DOS Santos has shown that he has the potential to fight at a high level in this division, the performance of Kavanagh showed exactly what it takes to compete with the best flying weights in the world.

Things did not go on his way, but he was able to find an alternative path to victory for the ninth victory of his professional career.
