Johnny Walker's unconventional way to learn English paid great dividends

Walker is one of the many fighters who have put a lot of trouble behind the scenes to learn English and relate better to the US and UK UFC Fan Bases. Anderson Silva, Song Yadong and other UFC stars have quickly overtaken themselves with UFC fans by accepting the immense challenge to learn the English language.

Walker traveled well, after training with Conor McGregor in SBG Ireland and at one point training in Russia with his brother, Valter, to prepare for some of MMA's best grapplers. While he lived in Scotland before he was signed by the UFC, Walker decided to become fluent English by using two popular smartphone apps.

But one of the apps that Walker uses to learn English may be surprising.

During a recent performance on the Vers us with Eric Nicksick Podcast, Walker shared how he learned English while training in mixed martial arts in Scotland at the start of his career.

“My best teachers were Duolingo and Tinder,” “I had f— 100 games on Tinder, and I am not saying that I am a very handsome man, but I was a gringo there. They wanted a man who was different from what they see, other than f – blond boys there …

“Hey, how are you? Whatchu does?” And with Duolingo, I was fluent in three months! “

Fortunately for Walker, his earlier use of Tinder Dating app has paid off. He has become one of the biggest stars in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division and is loved by Vecht fans around the world.

Johnny Walker's brother is one of the brightest young stars of the heavyweight division

Similar to the first hype that Johnny was previously in his UFC career, Valter draws grim comparisons in the heavyweight division. After achieving a rare entry profit at UFC Vegas 102, Valter johnny attacked while the two brothers celebrated the victory.

Valter has won back-to-back fights since he lost his UFC debut to Lukasz Brzeski due to unanimous decision last year. He recently tapped Don'Tale Mayes with a heel hook in February in the first round.

Valter and Johnny are the newest brothers and sisters to find huge success in the UFC Octagon, and while they put their returns, both continue to take themselves with the UFC fans.
