Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez
The most important event of UFC Vegas 109 sees two top-ten-arranged middle weights that try to cement themselves as title candidates on August 9.
Hernandez has picked up some enormous steam in recent years and has been undefeated since 2021 while he grabbed seven victories to climb the UFC rankings.
A recent victory over Brendan Allen moved him to #10 in the ranking, and a win over the #9-ranging Dolidze could see him jump over the Georgian to get closer to a shot at the title of Dricus du Plessis.
Dolidze, however, will be a tough opponent who has won his last three fights, including a five -round decision victory on Marvin Vettori in the main event fight of March.
This should be a close struggle that will have enormous consequences for the middleweight division in the future.
Iasmin Lucindo vs. Angela Hill
The Co-Main event of UFC Vegas 109 is a straw with women between two hunters who want to earn a chance on the title of Zhang Weili in the near future.
Iasmin Lucindo is currently at #8 in the ladies division, due to recent victories over Marina Rodriguez and Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
The #12-ranging Angela Hill, however, will be aware of the recent loss of Lucindo for Amanda Lemos on UFC 313.
The experienced hunter can still have a point at the top and will have to use all her experience to beat the Brazilian in Las Vegas on August 9.
Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez
Christian Rodriguez is a bit of a intersection at UFC Vegas 109, with his fight against Andre Fili as a must-win for “Ceerod”.
The American hunter has lost three and has won five of his fights since he debuted in the UFC, with only one victory in his last three fights.
He certainly has the potential to become a top name in the division, but it quickly becomes increasingly unlikely as he adds more to his record.
Overcoming the veteran Fili is absolutely necessary if he wants his career to start, although a loss could mean the end of his UFC trip.
Miles Johns vs. Jean Matsumoto
Miles Johns returns to Bantam weight after a loss of featherweight to take on Jean Matsumoto in Las Vegas on August 9.
The 15-4 hunter has so far an impressive MMA record, although he has had trouble combining the victories needed to illuminate the ranking for a title shot.
He will have some confidence in recording a much less experienced Jean Matsumoto on UFC Vegas 109, a man who has a spotty 2-1 record since debuting in the promotion.
Eryk Anders vs. Christian Leroy Duncan
The last fight on the main map of UFC Vegas 109 sees eryk Anders and Christian Leroy Duncan fighting in a middleweight match.
Journeyman Anders has spent almost a decade in the UFC with eight losses in his name, after struggling to protect a title fight during his time in the promotion.
He is confronted with Duncan, who has a similar mixed record since he debuts in 2023, and who will be the favorite to win this fight in the UFC Apex.
Prelims
Four fights have been announced to take place on the preliminary rounds, including two women's competitions.
They see Joselyne Edwards fight against Priscila Cachoeura in a bantam weight for women, while Gabrielle Fernandes and Julija Stoliarenko get out in a women's flying weight match.
Elsewhere, Julius Walker challenged a light heavyweight Raffael Certqueira and in the Bantamweight Division, Elia Smith takes on Toshiomi Kazama.
