During his interview after the fight, Joe Rogan told an excited Chris Leben that he had just recorded the biggest victory of his career after he had summoned this matchup.
Leben used the last moments of his time on the microphone to pay tribute to his former opponent who was loved by the fans, whether he won or was lost.
“Wanderlei, I love you. You are my hero. Thank you for having me with that fight.”
Leben would fight in the Octagon four more times and leave the UFC in 2013 before he made a short return to the competition with various performances in BKFC.
