Former Manchester United star Brandon Williams has admitted that it “hurts to watch football” since he was released by the club last summer.
Williams, 24, spoke frankly against retired goalkeeper Ben Foster in England about what life has been without a football club since July last year.
Williams, who came to the ranks at the Academy of Man Utd, was reserved as a player for the future at Old Trafford after he had received a debut from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019.
While he also had time on loan with both Norwich and Ipswich Town in recent seasons.
But after a series of poor form, fighting with injuries and problems outside the field, Williams was released by United last July and has not played a competitive game since December 9, 2023.
Last month, Williams argued guilty of dangerous driving and driving without insurance from third parties after a rapid crash.
Chester Crown Court heard that William's speeds of 99 km / h reached a balloon in his mouth before he was involved in the crash of 74 MPH.
He will be convicted on May 9.
Now Williams is open on the “dark” times without football since his release of Man Utd.
He told Ben Foster's fozcast podcast: “I literally just stayed in bed, he [unknown] Is used to pop up at 9 o'clock or something on my bed.
“Try to do something like” Let's go for a walk, let's go for a coffee. “
Asked how bad it was, he replied, “Yes, it's dark.”
And now the left back has said that even watching football hurts him nowadays while he dreams of a return to the field in the near future.
He said: “It hurts me now to watch football because I just want to be there, I just want to play.
“I miss it to be in a team, I miss it to be in the coach, I just think it's that thing that sometimes gets too much for someone.”
Williams, who played for England at the level of U20 and U21, suggested that his break could be of the game what he needed.
He added: “Maybe I needed that break, just take everything with you to reset.”
The defender was reportedly watched the first team of England after his Breakout season with Man Utd in the 2019/20 campaign.
While he has earned 47 Premier League performances, 12 Europa League cameras and a competition winners medal for the Red Devils.
Williams on loan last season at Ipswich Town, where he made 15 championship performances, but was omitted from the matchday squad of Tractor Boys for the entire second half of the season when they were promoted to the top flight.
