Manchester United were defeated 4-3 by Tottenham in the quarter-final of the League Cup on Thursday.
United fell behind early on after Altay Bayindir made a mess of Pedro Porro's long-range shot and Dominic Solanke fired home the rebound.
Spurs struck again early in the second half when Lisandro Martinez's weak ball fell to Dejan Kulusevski and he made no mistake from eight yards out.
Solanke got his second just seven minutes later with a smart finish, before two terrible mistakes from Fraser Forster let United back into the match thanks to goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Amad. Son Heung-min scored straight from a corner before Jonny Evans made it 4-3 in stoppage time.
This is how the players rated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:
Altay Bayindir
Started poorly and worsened with sloppy goalkeeping for Dominic Solanke's goal on the rebound that put Spurs ahead. Sad for the clincher. 3
It showed again why United invested so heavily in him this summer, especially with his touch under pressure. The maturity belied his 19 years.
Victor Lindelof
Made his fourth start of the season and did not last the first half as he succumbed to another injury. 5
Lisandro Martinez
A weak clearance allowed Dejan Kulusevski to extend Tottenham's lead early in the second half and even worse for the third goal. 4
Noussair Mazraoui
Should have been shown a yellow card before he was eventually carded for a cynical foul. Had a great chance to score the equalizer. 6
Manuel Ugarte
Provided silk and steel in midfield with his best half yet for United. Exuded authority with a new midfield partner and only came unstuck when United were chasing the game. 7
Christian Eriksen
Some of his passing was typical Eriksen, but he blemished his first half by failing to convert on one of his two chances, which were costly. 6
Diogo Dalot
Not without effort, but without conviction in the final third, and United were slowed by two full backs on the wings. 5
Bruno Fernandes
Sometimes frivolous when he had the ball in good positions, but won the ball to the square for Joshua Zirkzee to score. Always tried to get something done. 6
Switched from winger to playmaker and didn't let United play. His lack of speed was a patent problem and he took the lead early in the second half. 4
Rasmus Hojlund
Was dominated by Radu Dragusin and it didn't help that Hojlund was supported by two number 10s who lacked pace. Never got started. 5
Jonny Evans
Came on just before half time and grew into the match as United went on the attack. 6
Joshua Zirkzee
A good header was palmed away by Fraser Forster. Scored to give United hope. 7
Kobbie Mainoo
Powered the midfield as United attempted a comeback. 7
Gave United a shot in the arm and then Forster a shock by blocking his clearance. 8
Alejandro Garnacho
Tried to make something happen, but got nowhere. 5
Shouldn't have changed the goalkeeper for a quarter final. Proactive with the substitutions in the early second half and Zirkzee and Amad scored. 6
