United States 1-2 Mexico: Edson Alvarez & Jimenez helps Mexicans crown Gold Cup

The second half of the second half of Edson Álvarez gave Mexico a 2-1 victory over the United States and a 10th Concacaf Gold Cup title in a hectic final in Houston's NRG stadium on Sunday evening.

The USMNT entered the Gold Cup with a loss of four games, the longest since 2007.

Jiménez van Mexico pays tribute to Jota na Gold Cup –

Mexico -striker Raúl Jiménez paid tribute to the former teammate Diogo Jota after scoring a goal against the United States at the Gold Cup.

Jota was killed with his brother, André Silva, in a car accident near Zamora, Spain, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Jiménez, who played two seasons in Wolverhampton Wanderers with Jota from 2018 to 2020, scored in the 27th minute and during his party a Mexico sweater with the name of Jota and his number 20 on the back before he took a chair on the field and showed the shirt to the cameras.

The services for Jota and his brother were held on Saturday morning in Gondomar, Portugal.

During the news conference on Saturday prior to the game, Jiménez said that Jota was a “great teammate who was with me there for two years, with whom I kept in regular contact.

“We have shared very nice moments.”

Mexico won the game 2-1 to lift his 10th Gold Cup title.
