The summer spending of Manchester United has now affected the £ 200 million, but the club has been told that their first recruit this window, Matheus Cunha, is a character that their dressing room might not need
The “Maverick” personality of Matheus Cunha is not what the dressing room of Manchester United needs, says Joe Cole. The Brazilian was the first of the summer signs of the Red Devils, with £ 74 million men Benjamin Sesko the last.
After a bitter disappointing campaign, Ruben Amorim has received ammunition to improve his forward line, with Cunha, £ 65 million winger Bryan Mbeumo and now long striker Sesko all touches.
Cunha, however, was the first to be broken up, who signed Wolves at the beginning of June after his release clause of £ 62.5 million was activated. Cole, who played in the Premier League for West Ham, Chelsea and Liverpool,, however, believes that the attitude of the 26-year-old is a great concern.
“The thing that worries me about Cunha, and I think he is a brilliant player, fantastic player, beautiful goals and can do everything, but you hear small things about his attitude,” Cole told TNT Sports.
“I would not want to say that he is a bad boy because I would not want to say that, but he is a bit of a misfight and I have heard people talk about him who is a bit of a misfit.
“The last thing United dressing room needs is another Maverick, there are mavericks everywhere that put things on social media and all that. You hear too much coming out of that dressing room, so it's a gamble with Cunha.”
Cunha landed in hot water last season, twice a fine and forbidden by the football club for misconduct. The first incident came in December, when he got a ban from two games and hit a fine of £ 80,000 for a fight against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
After the full-time whistle, a battle broke out between Wolves and the victorious Ipswich players, and Cunha seemed to hit a member of the coaching team of the opposition. His suspension was confirmed in January.
Later in March, Cunha received a fine of another £ 50k and suspended for an extra fourth game of a ban on three games after being sent away for collision with defender Milos Kerkez, now from Liverpool, in extra time of Wolves' FA Cup defeat by Bournemouth.
The Brazilian will be accompanied in Old Trafford by the Slovenian striker Sesko, who, after a tumultuous summer who also saw him connected to a move to Newcastle, was announced as a United player on Saturday.
Immediately after taking a five -year deal, Sesko spoke to his decision and declared: “The history of Manchester United is clearly very special, but what really fascinates me is the future.
“When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is present for this team to keep growing and to compete for the biggest trophies soon.
“From the moment I arrived, I felt the positive energy and family environment that the club created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfill all my ambitions. I can't wait to start learning from Ruben and making contact with my teammates to achieve the success we all know together.”
