Virgil van Dijk hinted that there has been a movement in his contract situation with Liverpool, with an outcome not far away.
Although Liverpool is impressed by 11 points clearly at the top of the Premier League, there was a shadow cast during their season with the contracts of important players who end at the end of the season.
In addition to Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both in the last year of their deals in Anfield, with the last large scale on his way to Real Madrid.
But after he was asked about his own future, Van Dijk gave a more encouraging response.
“There is progress, yes,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
When he pushed exactly what that meant, and whether he would stay in the club after this season, he replied, “I don't know, we'll see.”

It is understandable that the Liverpool captain did not want to reveal too much and explained that he would not go further in detail if he was asked to work out more.
“Listen, these are internal discussions and we will see,” he said.
“I love the club, I love the fans and they were back for us [at Fulham]. We wanted to reward them, but I ask them to be there again on Sunday and to turn the stadium into a great location as always for us. “
Liverpool was beaten 3-2 on Sunday to Fulham and ended their unbeaten record in the Premier League this season.
Next to the Reds is a home game against West Ham United, with the hosts who only need 11 more points to mathematically confirm the Premier League title.
Since he made his Liverpool debut in January 2018, Van Dijk has made the second most approval of a Premier League defender (991), with only James Tarkowski (1,427).
Only Tarkowski (1,807) has won more duels among defenders in the top flight at that time than Van Dijk (1,223), with the center-back played a role in 97 competition clean sheets.
