Van Dijk issues warning to Liverpool team-mates after Carabao Cup final defeat

Virgil van Dijk has issued a rally-crystal to his teammates in Liverpool in the midst of their recent struggles on the field.

The Reds suffered their last setback on Sunday afternoon after losing the Carabao Cup Final 2-1 from Newcastle, who came through PSG days after their shootout defeat.

Although the competition title at the end of the campaign is more than likely to go back to Merseyside, there are still some worries among Liverpool supporters.

Now, despite his unsolved contract situation, Virgil van Dijk has emerged and he insisted on his teammates to finish our A ** es' to stop 'world sinking'.

According to the sun, he said: “We have to turn this around. If you lose twice in five days, it feels like the world is sinking. Two weeks earlier everything was sunshine and rainbows.

'We couldn't get it done in the Champions League, we lost this final and we were beaten from the FA Cup.

'We have nine games to go and I don't think a motivation is needed to try to get the job done. We need our A ** es off '.

'But now everyone goes to their respective countries and will play them all and hopefully stay fit. We then have a few days to settle and be ready for Everton at home.

'If we win five games – clearly a very difficult job – we will be champions of England. If you keep these things in mind, it can also benefit you to ensure that you work hard.

“I can now guarantee that there will be so many difficult moments in all those games.”

As it looks now, the Reds are 12 points above Arsenal and they are in the steering place to secure a historical title in the first season of Arne Slot in the club.

Despite their dominance in the competition, there are still questions about the future of Mohammed Salah, Trent Alexander -Arnold and Van Dijk – who are all busy continuing deals.

Dutch International Van Dijk, however, talks to Liverpool fans for their Carabao Cup Defeat, not to panic about his contract situation.

'As long as I am calm for you, then it is not necessary to panic what can happen in the future. If I was afraid that you would see me play a little worries and that is not the case.

'Maybe I will completely run this down and then if there is still no news, I don't know. I don't know at this stage (what will happen). But I don't want to create fear or something like that, I just keep my head down and concentrate on hopefully winning the next 10 games.

'That is my full focus: to be there for the manager, the players, the fans. So let's see what it entails and I am sure there will be news towards the end of the season. But what kind of news I don't know for sure.

“The only thing I can say, and I have often said it is that I am so proud to be the captain of this beautiful club that means so much to me and has meant so much to me in the past, as well as my family.”
