Van Nistelrooy demands ‘fight’ from Leicester every week, says Thomas

Luke Thomas says that Ruud van Nistorrooy always demands that fights from Leicester City, because their attempt to stay in the Premier League will continue against Manchester United on Sunday.

Leicester is six points of safety, are in 19th place in the table and has lost 12 of their last 13 games in the competition.

They have passed a scorching run at home, lost each of their last six without touching the net, which contributes to their problems.

Although he suffers a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on Stamford Bridge last weekend, it was a positive achievement by Leicester and Thomas believes that they can use that as a springboard for the remaining 10 games of the season.

“I think if we can take this in the rest of the season, we have a real chance to get some victories and hopefully stay in the competition,” said Thomas.

“[Van Nistelrooy] to demand [fight] Every week – week in, week out. We had a change of formation [against Chelsea] And I think that helped us in a certain way.

“It helped us, and hopefully we can do that again. It was a positive achievement that came after the results we recently had and the performances we shown in recent games.”

In the meantime, United 14th is in the Premier League table, but they have the opportunity to extend their undefeated series to four games in the competition in the King Power Stadium.

In this competition they go at a peak, after they have protected their place in the quarterfinals of the Europa League with a convincing 4-1 victory over 10-man Real Sociedad in the second stage of the last 16 on Thursday.

And Ruben Amorim hopes that their progress in Europe can influence their performance in the Premier League.

“In that context [reaching the last eight]It is also important to give us more energy to continue the season, “said Amorim.

“We know that. It won't change much for the following season, but it will give us more energy to complete the season in a different way.

“It was a very important game for us. We are ready.”
