Van Nistelrooy admitted to Manchester City after the 2-0 loss on Wednesday that the relegation of Leicester was inevitable, but he insists that the foxes will remain professional.
“We have to get up. It is my responsibility to do my work as well as possible for the last eight games,” he said.
“I don't look any further. It is difficult enough to keep up the spirits and everyone together because it is not going well. We are a team and we will stay together. If we do that, we have a chance of results.”
Asked how he is dealing with the responsibility to lead Leicester through a miserable campaign, he added: “It is something that I feel that I want to continue with the team, the team and the staff.
'Stay together and stay connected. Fight through this as people. We have to give everything to get out of this every day.
“It's not something I want to walk away. I want to fight every day. We will fight until the end.”
In the meantime, Newcastle increased their hope for Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win over Brentford previous time-out, and they then saw Rivals Nottingham Forest and Chelsea drop points.
The only negative for the magpies was the sight of Alexander Isak with a knock. Howe says that they have to “wait” from the availability of the striker, but has questioned the perception of the Swede that is susceptible to injuries.
“Look at my record – I was very injuries,” said Howe. “Alex is certainly not.
“He has a physio that he uses in combination with the football club that will fly in and out. We support that and have a good relationship with that.
“It's about building relationships and trust, so he knows we are doing a good job for him and also his body.”
