The 38-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions last season when the Foxes immediately returned to the top flight after their relegation in 2023, but he is unable to help Leicester to avoid a quick return to the championship, with their relegation confirmed last week.

“For the fans of Leicester, I was stripped that this day is coming, but I knew it would eventually come,” Vardy said on a video posted on Leicester's social media channels.
“I spent 13 incredible years in this club, with great success and some downs, but the majority have all been high.
“It is finally time to call it a day, which I am devastated by it, but I think the timing is right.”
