Jamie Vardy does not hesitate that Leicester City will do well without him and said that the club would always stay close to his heart while he said goodbye to the foxes after 13 seasons on Sunday.
Vardy, 38, marked his last match for Leicester with his 200th goal in their colors while she relegated colleague Ipswich Town 2-0 in the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.
Vardy was signed in 2012 from the fifth side Fleetwood Town for a million pound ($ 1.33 million) and became the largest player of the club of the modern age and led Leicester to the Premier League title 2015-16 against all opportunities.
“It will be fine. At the end of the day we have a good team, we have all the young people who come through. I am happy that I am not them! Football is a murderer and I couldn't do it all again,” Vardy replied when he was asked how Leicester will do without him.
“I will keep an eye on the club that I love. They are in my heart.”
Vardy received an honorary guard from his teammates and a standing ovation from the home support when he was replaced in the 80th minute.
“From the ground of my heart, thank you for taking myself and my family like yours. I hope I have paid you back,” Vardy told the fans.
Leicester -Manager Ruud van Nistorrooy also had friendly words for the former striker of England.
“If you score your 200th goal at the age of 500, then you are a great one. Vardy has been a unique player and a person for this football club,” Van Nistelrooy told Premier League Productions.
“In the coming years we will realize that we were part of the moment. He is also a character, there is a story and a lead for him. He is a big captain.”
Leicester make a trip to Bournemouth next Sunday to the 11th placed Bournemouth. But Vardy will not play a role in the game, with the East Midlands Club already confirming that his last game was at home against Ipswich.
