Real Madrid right-back Lucas Vazquez has responded to Raphinha's comments that Barcelona may struggle to sign players due to their registration issues with Dani Olmo. But he refused to get drawn into anything too controversial, as was the case when asked about Real Madrid's pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
His own contract expires at the end of the season, and although he has been extended year on year of late, Alexander-Arnold's potential arrival could jeopardize his place in Real Madrid's squad.
“It's too early to know what will happen, but I'm enjoying this season. We'll see what happens next season, that's all I can tell you.”
Asked about the registrations of Olmo and Victor, Vazquez, like Diego Simeone before him, called on the responsible institutions to implement the rules.
“We all know what's happening. We all know what Raphinha said. We respect all clubs and players. We rely on institutions and rules. We'll see what happens.”
This year, Vazquez has often worn the captain's armband, second in command behind Luka Modric.
“It is an honor to wear the Real Madrid captaincy. It's a dream. Being a captain brings good and bad moments for everyone. It is a big responsibility.”
When it came to Alexander-Arnold, Vazquez refused to answer.
“You ask about a player who does not play in Madrid and that is something I cannot answer.”
