‘Very close’… Conor McGregor reacts to Tyson Fury suffering second successive loss against Oleksandr Usyk

UFC superstar Conor McGregor was quick to react to Saturday night's big boxing rematch.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury over 12 rounds to defend his WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight titles at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia.

It was a close fight that could have gone either way, but ended with all three judges scoring 116-12 in favor of Oleksandr Usyk.

Another rematch with Daniel Dubois appears to be next. The IBF heavyweight king, who was stopped in nine rounds when he fought Usyk last year, stormed the ring demanding a chance for revenge after seeing his compatriot fall short against the undefeated Ukrainian.

Conor McGregor cheers on both boxers after the fight

As boxing fans began debating the scorecards, Conor McGregor took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to celebrate both men. 'Notorious' believes we have witnessed a close fight that Tyson Fury should be proud of, even if he was defeated.

“Great fight! Both gentlemen EXCEPTIONAL BOXERS! Really,” he tweeted.

“Let the conversation about Usyk playing right hand end now. He was as strong as he was skilled tonight! What a fight! Tyson Fury is a man. Anyone who is against that version of Tyson Fury is getting smoked.

“Very close fight. So much fun! Thank you gentlemen and teams. Thank you Saudi Arabia!”

McGregor will have been keeping a close eye on some tips ahead of his potential return to the ring.

The 36-year-old earned $100 million when he boxed Floyd Mayweather in his professional debut seven years ago.

Now he claims an even more lucrative fight will take place before his UFC return in 2025.

Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul?

Earlier this week, McGregor sent the combat sports world into meltdown with a social media post.

'Notorious' distanced himself from a fight with UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria before claiming he is in talks for an exhibition boxing fight with YouTuber-turned-WWE star Logan Paul.

“The rumors about a fight with Topuria are false. I have made tentative arrangements with the Ambani family to meet Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India. I agreed. I will then look for my return to the Octagon,” McGregor said.

No official announcement has been made yet, but McGregor continues to promote the fight at every opportunity.

“TKO group! UFC vs. WWE,” he tweeted. “There are levels to this, a big sloppy novice will figure it out!

“TKO KING TITLE! #BiggestGenerator #KingofNumbers #Streams #PPV I own every record and I'm coming back to KO this rookie and rack up more numbers for the company. #StockMarketIndia #MyHighestPayPacketYet #Thanksforthecheese.”
