Guglielmo Vicario has called on his Tottenham teammates to write history in Bilbao and to ensure that the clubs of the club are decorated next season with images of those holding the Europa League trophy.
“It would be huge for the players, for the staff and especially for the fans,” Vicario told Manchester United on Wednesday prior to the final.
'We know that we can create history for this football club. We probably know that next year when we walk through the corridors to the dressing room, we will see some pictures of us that cancel that trophy, but now it's not certain.
“So we have to work as well as possible to try to try on the day as much as we can to create history.”
Tottenham is looking for their first trophy since 2008 and their first in Europe since 1984.
For Vicario, the final represents the chance of glory at the end of a difficult season in which he spent three months with a broken ankle.
“The injury has been a big problem for me,” said the Italy International, signed from Empoli in 2023. “To live through this kind of moment and to win a semi -final of a European competition to go into a final, it was a big goal for me to try to arrive in May and have the opportunity to play this kind of game.
'I can't be more proud of my journey so far. Now it's just about completing the last step we have. '
Tottenham has defeated Manchester United three times this season, at home and away in the Premier League and in the Carabao Cup. They have never left behind and have already led for 31 minutes, but top scorer Brennan Johnson guarded against complacency.
