Viktor Gyokeres is finally planned to join Arsenal after the Gunners have made a breakthrough in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon and agrees to pay a total of £ 63.7 million after negotiating add-ons
Arsenal cannot hand Viktor Gyokor his dream shirt number when the Swedish striker completes his £ 63.7 million to the Emirates. Gyokeres, 27, is determined to join the Gunners during the summer transfer window and is about to get his wish.
Personal conditions have long been agreed, but the finer details of the agreement between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon lasted weeks to complete. The Portuguese Giants-Champions, who scored Gyokees 97 goals in 102 games, negotiated the nature of the add-ons that were part of Arsenal's bid.
The Guardian report that the side of Mikel Arteta made a breakthrough in the late night on Tuesday, forcing the Gunners boss in the first few days of their pre-season Tour by Asia to put questions about the former Coventry City star. After Wednesday's 1-0 win against AC Milan in Singapore, Arteta repeated: “You know I am not going to play against a player who is not yet with us.”
The comments from the Arsenal manager reflect what he said on Monday after his team landed in Asia. “I can't comment on a player who is not yet part of our group,” he said reporters. “If we have something concrete to offer to every player, we will do that.”
But Arteta will change his tune as soon as Gyokeres is completed his medical and put Pen on paper with a five -year contract. The Sweden International will hope to take its productive form from the Primeira League to the Premier League – but he will not have the same number on his back.
Gyokees has worn the No.9 shirt since he was joined in 2023 to Sporting van Coventry.
During his two full seasons in Coventry, Gyokeres wore the No.17 shirt. That is currently taken by Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is also tipped to leave North Londs.
Interesting, however, the No.10 shirt – probably its second choice – is vacant. The departure of Emile Smith Rowe Last summer gives the 27-year-old the chance to inherit a prestigious shirt number that is worn by Paul Merson, Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie and Mesut Ietw.

Another iconic number that is available is the number 14, most famous by Thierry Henry. Other Arsenal-Groten to wear the shirt are Martin Keown, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alan Smith, Ray Parlor and Kevin Campbell.
Gyokeres only wore no. 10 at youth level and went to Sport 12, 14, 42 and 9 in the first football team. Other remarkable empty numbers at Arsenal are 10, 25, 26, 34 and 35.
