Viktor Gyokeres told to snub Man Utd transfer despite seeing ‘agreement’ reached

Manchester United is just one of the clubs in the hope of breaking Viktor Gyokeres when the sought -after striker leaves in the summer transfer window Sporting Lisbon

Viktor Gyokers should reject a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. That is the verdict of Anders Limpar, who says that the Swede should come to Arsenal instead in the coming transfer window.

Gyokeres, 26, is the target of a large number of top European clubs during another remarkable campaign, where he scored 40 times in 41 games. Among the linked are United, which are now managed by the former boss of Gyokeres at Sporting Lisbon.

At the start of the week it arose that Gyokeres got the green light to move at the end of the season by his current club, which has reached an agreement to sell it for € 60-70 million (£ 50.2 million £ 58.5 million): an amount much lower than the release clause that is in the contract of the striker.

With United who has trouble scoring goals regularly in the Premier League, Amorim would like to reunite with Gyokeres at Old Trafford.

But Limpar thinks that the bad season of the Red Devils is reason enough for Gyokees to watch somewhere else – especially if the will of Arsenal and other clubs that will play in next season's Champions League will also be in the mix to sign him.

He said to Sveacasino: “Arsenal struggled for a long time in the Premier League and Champions League before turning things around, Manchester United is now in one of their worst periods in their own history.

“Manchester United would be a bad move for Viktor Gyokeres, they are struggling in every department and when it comes to winning games and trying to win trophies, he has to play for a team like Arsenal.”

The Gunners, such as United, is expected to spend great on a new striker at the end of the season. They were strongly connected to Gyokeres last summer, but have since been connected to people like Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak.

Isak is a man who is question after his exploits with Newcastle in the last 18 months. But Limpar thinks Gyokeres is the one who has to pursue Arsenal.

He added: “Alexander Isak plays the best football of his life and although I am unable to say that Arsenal has to sign a striker, this summer can happen this summer. Arsenal has Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, there are good players there, we cannot forget that they are incredible with injuries.

“Looking elsewhere, there is Viktor Gyokeres who is a fantastic goal scorer, Isak who is also great and Ollie Watkins in Aston Villa.

“As a Swede and former Arsenal player, seeing Gyokees or Isak in Arsenal would give me a warm feeling, but it is up to the club. All in all, Arsenal Gyokeres should sign, Isak is arranged and builds an inheritance, Gyokeres is in sport and there are probably seven or eight Premier competitions that are a better side.

“Isak should stay in Newcastle and make a great name for himself and set scoring records while gaining more trophies.”
