Arsenal and Manchester United are considered one of the teams interested in a deal for Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres this summer, but a large club is now out of the running
The race for Viktor Gyokeres is starting to warm up – but the Sweden International will not come to Barcelona this summer, says the sports director of the Spanish champions, Deco.
Gyokeres, 26, has looted goals at a remarkable pace since he came to Sporting Lisbon two years ago on a free transfer of Coventry City. And with the striker now ready to go further, he has no shortage of voorders throughout Europe, also in the Premier League.
Arsenal and Manchester United belong to the clubs that weigh a blockbuster summer movement while they are looking for attacking reinforcements prior to the 2025-26 campaign.
And their chances of landing Gyokeres have received an important boost from Deco, who has confirmed that Barcelona will not try to sign the productive striker this summer.
“Gyokees is a great striker who did excellent things during sport, but we are not currently looking for that position,” Deco said, according to a Bola. “We have [Robert] Lewandowski at number nine. “
Arsenal will spend great no .9 this summer after he finished second in the Premier League for a third consecutive year, although it is still too seen whether they will follow a deal for Gyokees or for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
The latter is known as a long -term target and was connected to Londoners last summer before she chose to donate a new contract with Leizpig.
Head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, knows Gyokeres inside out after managing him for most of the striker of the striker in Sporting Lisbon before accepting an offer to move to England in November.

Gyokeres scored 54 goals this season in 52 games, because Sporting won another Portuguese title and, for their part, the club insists that they have not received any offers for their star attacker.
The vice-president of Sporting, Francisco Salgado Zenha, said Van Gyokeres: “He has three years on his contract. At the moment there are no offers, he has three years on his contract. I think the answer was given. [Sporting’s transfer plans] Will be no different than last year. We want to keep the best players and keep talent.
“We want to stay champion, have competitive teams and fight on all fronts. I have been in this role for seven years. In the years that sporting champions were, we have even made fewer sales than in other years … The fact that we are champions gives us a greater ability to retain players and talent.
“Coincidence or not, we didn't have to sell players at that time. Not that we have not received any offers, but the market is not under our control, we are always dependent.”
