The Transfersaga of Viktor Gyokeres has taken a turn, which could mean that Arsenal and Manchester United have to spend an even larger sum to sign the striker this summer
The agent of Viktor Gyokeres has no 'signed letter' from Sporting CP, which means he can leave less for a fee than his release, reports in Portugal Claim. The Sensational Form of Gyokees in the past two seasons has seen the Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United both heavily connected to the Swede this summer.
And it originated that Gyokees prefers a move to North Londs under Mikel Arteta above reunited with his former boss, Ruben Amorim, in Old Trafford.
But it seems that his dream to Arsenal has hit a stumbling block because of the fee that the Portuguese champions are too high. Reports had stated that the 27-year-old striker was allowed to exercise for a fee under his £ 84 million release clause.
His agent, Hassan Cetinkaya, claimed that he had reached a men's agreement with the club last summer, which meant that they would accept each offer in the £ 60 million region (€ 70 million consisting of € 60 million plus € 10 million in bonuses), and even said he had a signed letter to prove it.
The club president Frederico Varandas of Sporting, however, has accused the Gyokeres team of 'blackmail' the Portuguese giants to have their talisman leave. The club therefore holds for a considerably higher fee that has stuck its potential exit.
And on Wednesday, during a conversation between LuÃs Aguilar, Marco Caneira and Pedro Henriques on the Jogo Aberto Podcast, it was claimed that there was indeed no written document signed by sporty bosses who oblige the club to accept a lower offer.
Former sports defender Caneira said: “Sports are calm, the biggest problem of the agent is the contract he has with the player, who is coming to an end.”
Co-host and former Benfica star Henriques added: “The strategy of the agent of Gyokeres only creates chaos and discomfort.”
In the meantime, a Portuguese publication reports a Bola that actually refers the daring claim of Cetinkaya to a clause with which he can receive 10% of an external offer of more than £ 51.3 million (€ 60 million), which rejects sportingly.
It also states that the clause is not in letter, but in the contract the Sweden International signed in the summer of 2023, after his move from Coventry City.
If that clause is activated, Sporting will then the full release clause of £ 84 million demands to let it go – something that will probably not be right with the attacker.
Gyokees has already threatened to go on strike after he promised to 'speak at the right time'.
According to a Bola, he is 'very upset' of the current attitude of Sporting and has made his feelings clear to the hierarchy of the club.
Arsenal has not placed all their eggs in one basket due to the problems surrounding the exit of Gyokees from the sport. Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig is also hunted and the Gunners want to see which deal offers the best price -quality ratio.
United has been struggling to follow their signing by Matheus Cunha van Wolves so far, because Tottenham's interest in Bryan Mbuemo has seen that move.
