Villarreal has a busy end to the winter transfer window. After signing Tajon Buchanan from Inter Milan, they also hope to add a defender before the deadline on Monday. However, complications have emerged in the last 24 hours.
The arrival of Buchanan was officially confirmed on Saturday, hours before the side of Marcelino Garcia Toral Real Valladolid defeated 5-1. Although that is good news for Villarreal, they experience problems in their efforts to bring in Rafa Marin, the center base selected by the club's sports department.
Napoli, who signed Marin from Real Madrid last summer on a deal with a value of € 12 million, agreed to let the young defender leave for the rest of the season without a purchase clause. However, they would only give the last green light as soon as a replacement was signed, and so far that has yet to happen.
That is why a deal is held, according to Marca. Villarreal becomes restless due to the lack of movement, especially because Marin would be the last part of Marcelin's team for the rest of the season, while the yellow submarine performs a push for the Champions League places.
It has been reported that if a deal for Marin falls through it because Napoli does not sign a replacement, Villarreal would not look for an alternative. They already have Logan Costa, Willy Kambwala, Raul Albiol and Eric Bailly as center-back options, while Juan Foyth also looks to stay while his projected move to Aston Villa does not look for Monday's deadline.
It is still to be seen how this issue takes place in the next 48 hours. Villarreal wants to get it done as quickly as possible, although they are confident that Napoli will get a step further in their own search for a new central defender.
