Chelsea will separate this summer with countless players, and there are opportunities for one of them to end in Villarreal, the beginning of September when the transfer window is coming to an end.
After signing Rafa Marin from Napoli before in the summer, Villarreal did not actively sign another central defender. With the news that Logan Costa will miss a large part of the following season after stopping an ACL injury during a recent pre-season-friendly, there is now a need for a new center-back.
The search is looking for a replacement and a player who has been linked in recent weeks is Axel Disasi. The Frenchman is out of the grace in Chelsea, so he would be available for a move to La Ceramica.
However, it has now been reported that La Nueva España (Via ED) is that Villarreal is not willing to pay the asking price of Chelsea to Disasi, which are assumed to be in the region of € 25-30 million.
Villarreal has money to spend after the sale of Alex Baena and Thierno Barry, but they will not shift too far away from the transfer policy that has been so successful in recent years. The idea is not to pay a large fee for Disasi, which they ideally want to sign on loan with an option to buy, instead of a mandatory clause.
It is not clear whether Chelsea would be open to this, but given that they had a similar deal when Disasi came to Aston Villa last season, there are chances to make it happen. Villarreal, however, cannot afford to work on a deal for too long, because they desperately need to have a new center-back before the start of the new campaign.
