Villarreal willing to reach deal with Aston Villa for defender

Aston Villa has already completed the signing of Andres Garcia from Spain during the transfer period of January of Levante. After they missed Loic Bade in Seville, their attention brought them to Castellon less than an hour north of Valencia. Villa is currently in conversation with Villarreal for the Argentinian World Cup winner Juan Foyth.

The 27-year-old has yet to open conversations with Villa himself, but the good relationship between Villa, Unai Emery and Villarreal facilitates the conversations between the two clubs. As soon as a deal has been reached with the Yellow Submarine, Villa will then start a conversation with Foyth itself, but the player is informed of interest.

Foyth is currently not eligible for selection at Marcelino Garcia Toral as a result of the negotiations. Villa has made a bid that is not accepted, but Villarreal is willing to consider a sale, says Relevo. With only eighteen months to go and a history of injuries in recent years, they consider this the right time to close a deal.

Emery publicly admitted on Sunday that Villa was also interested in contracting him.

“I know Juan Foyth because I worked with him. He is one of the players who can perform in different positions with his quality. We want to contract him for our team.”

Villarreal arrived in 2020, originally rented from Tottenham Hotspur, and spent 15 million euros to make the deal final the next summer. Since then, FoyTh has 120 performances to his name in La Ceramica, with 4 goals and 6 assists, for the most part he operated as a right back. In the past one and a half season, he was limited to only twenty performances due to a series of injuries, but before that he was the subject of interest of Barcelona, which at that time could not pay his release clause of € 45 million.
