Vinicius wants to extend Real Madrid contract beyond 2027

Vinicius Junior would like to extend his stay in Real Madrid after the end of his contract in 2027.

Vinicius has emerged as an important player for Los Blancos since he arrived from Flamengo, so that they helped Leaga and the Champions League twice three times.

But last year the Brazilian was associated with a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, with reports that suggested that he could be offered a contract worth € 1 billion to move to the country.

However, prior to the first stage of Madrid's last-16 draw to Atletico Madrid, Vinicius said he sees his future in the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I am calm because I have a contract until 2027 and I hope I will extend as soon as possible,” he told reporters when he was asked about his future.

“I am happy here, with the best coach, with the best fans, they all love me and I am not going to be anywhere else than here.

“I am here to follow history and for everything the president and the club gave me. I came to that, as I wanted as a child, and I want to continue here.”

This season Vinicius is directly involved in nine goals in eight Champions League performances (seven goals, two assists).

He is now looking for double digits for goal involvement for the fourth consecutive edition of the tournament, while Cristiano Ronaldo is the only other player who has done this in no fewer than four seasons for Madrid (eight times in total).

Vinicius was tipped by many to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or after scoring in Madrid's Champions League -Final victory over Borussia Dortmund last June, but he finished second at Manchester City -Middenvelder Rodri.

Madrid led that decision to boycott the prestigious award ceremony, but Vinicius claims that he is over that snub.

“People vote for what they believe. I have my thoughts,” he said.

“I have never dreamed of winning the balloon d'Or, when you are close, you believe it, but I'm going to get more opportunities.

“I have already won two European cups and I am here to win much more.”

Asked if it was his decision to skip the ceremony, he added: “I just do what the club tells me, they asked me to stay away and I was calm.”
