Virgil van Dijk has warned that Paris Saint-Germain could be even more dangerous now that they are chasing a lead against Liverpool.
The Reds go in the second stage of the Champions League Last-16 draw with an advantage of one goal after the deceased winner of Harvey Elliott in Paris last week. That was after Liverpool keeper Alisson made nine saves, because PSG dominated the game for almost 90 minutes but could not score.
Van Dijk admits that the Reds must be wary of the painful PSG side that comes to Anfield. He said: “I think they are an excellent team, a fantastic team, you can see the working speed that they have done. We clearly had a debrief after the game and you could see them, if they lost the ball, they all pressed together and all run together.
“It is a great honor to the manager to bring in that work and in my view he made a world -class team out. It will be difficult on Tuesday and you will all see. I think someone who expected our competition there before our competition would be a dominant achievement of us, I don't think they really looked at PSG all season.
“Knowing that they were unbeaten for so long. We were very well prepared, of course we could have done better in some ways. But we know that it will be just as tough on Tuesday, perhaps even more difficult, because they will have to come (and win), but we clearly also want to win, to ensure that we continue. “
Van Dijk is hopeful that Alisson no longer has to be the savior when PSG Anfield visits and hopes that the crowd will make it a special atmosphere.
He added: “It is clearly a team with different qualities, with qualities of world class, and we have to be good at everything we do, each of us. We all know that. So it is up to us to be more than ready for a big night.
“We need everyone in that sense: all players, employees, fans. Hopefully it will be a great evening for us, but it will be hard work because they are a world -class team and they have already shown it against us. “
