Virgil van Dijk has added to the misery of the exit of Liverpool's Champions League by stating that he has “no idea” or he will be in the club next season.
The Reds skipper no longer has a contract this summer, together with Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the Dutchman claims that everyone who claims to know where he will play in the next term “lies against your face”.
The runaway Premier League leaders from Arne Slot were beaten from the Last-16 from the Champions League in a 4-1 penalty shoot-out defeat by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening-to be surpassed for most of the draw by the French champions.
And when asked if he will come back for another crack in winning a second European Cup with Liverpool next season, Van Dijk said: “I have no idea. I still have no idea at the moment. Really.
“It's not on hold. Nothing is on hold. Listen, there are still 10 games to go [in the season] And that is my full focus. If there is news, you will know. But I don't even know myself.
“Everyone knows that there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that's about it. At the moment I don't even know what will happen next year.
“If someone says they know, they lie to your face.”
Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold have all attracted a lot of interest from abroad, where Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both want to sign the Dutch center of the center.
