Walker on Man City exit: It’s not over, I’m just on loan

The 34-year-old brought his seven and a half year stay in the city at the beginning of the year and has now opened the Kyle Walker podcast about how difficult it was to leave after he had found it impossible to reject AC Milan.

“In football I think when certain things come, or certain opportunities come, you have to take it,” Walker said.

“And for me to experience a different competition, for me to experience a different culture, for me to play for a club like AC Milan … I don't think you can reject that.

“And if you know they want you, or you want to go there, and you want a new challenge, I think there are certain clubs in the world that can say a little no.

“I think that with him (PEP) is a top player, plays for a top club and managing these top players, (he knows) people will have different desires or ambitions to do certain things with their career, and I just think it was at the right time for me. It was the right club at the right time.

“And I just felt, you know what, I have to go and try something else, because I don't want to live after football and said that I wanted me to have just explored something else and came to a club like that. I think it was the right fit for me.”

As a Premier League and the winner of the Champions League title, he now wants to win the Serie A in what a brand new challenge is for the veteran defender. He then revealed that his time in the city may not be over if he hopes to return and fight for his place next season.

“But after I said goodbye, Pep stood up and spoke and said a very nice message to me, just thanking for everything. But listening, it's not over. I am just on loan here.
