With chances to claim a premium in the first half, it was Real Madrid who grabbed their only opening, through the in-form Jude Bellingham.
The England international reacted quickest in the penalty area when he encountered a loose ball after 38 minutes and scored his fifth league goal in his last five games.
Bellingham then turned supplier on 55 minutes, when his pass behind the Girona defense was curled in by Arda Guler for his first goal of the season.
The result already appears to have been put beyond doubt, via a timely goal for Kylian Mbappe, as the France international turned in Luka Modric's pass for his ninth league goal of 2024/25.
